P2.3 - More About Infrared Radiation (Finished?) Flashcards
1
Q
Make sure you don’t start explaining global warming in physics terms in geography
A
Ok
2
Q
Do you know about global warming?
A
Good enough
3
Q
This did not help
A
Agreed
4
Q
When does an object’s temperature increase (infrared radiation)?
A
When it absorbs radiation faster than emitting it
5
Q
Explain how greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere heat up Earth?
A
Infrared radiation from the sun warms the ground. The heated ground then emits longer-wavelength i-radiation which is absorbed by molecules of greenhouse gases and re-emitted back down
