What is the Product Design Specification (PDS)?
Very important document as it contains all information necessary for a design team to successfully produce a solution to the design problem inside the project or the work package.
A PDS splits the problem up into smaller categories to make it easier to consider.
The final document should fully document as detailled as possible all the requirements that a product must fulfill together with any constraints that may affect the product.
What are DEMANDS in respect to a requirements list?
Demands are requirements that must be met under all circumstances.
What are WISHES in respect to a requirements list?
Wishesare requirements that should be taken into consideration whenever possible.
It is advisable to classify wishes as being of major, medium or minor importance.
What information is included in the layout if the PDS requirements list?
- company responsible
- system or subsystem
- identification and classification
- issue number and date
- modification and date
- demand or wish
- structured list of requirements
- responsible for the requirement
What is important regarding the PDS chapters?
The PDS document contains a structured set of chapters.
These chapters should always been kept, even if a whole chapter is not needed for the product/system.
