OWS Flashcards
Discharge must be through OWS and OCM and contain less than __ ppm of oil. The oily mixture is processed through oil filtering equipment that automatically stops when the oil content of the effluent exceeds __ ppm.
15 ppm
For at-sea operations, the OCM shall
be set at the __-ppm alarm set point limit.
15-ppm
If equipment-operating conditions prevent achieving less than 15-ppm, overboard oil discharge concentrations shall be limited to less than ___-ppm, using the 70-ppm OCM alarm set point.
100-ppm
Eductors shall not be used to dewater bilges containing oily waste except in emergency situations or when:
- OWS system has been casualty reported (CASREP)
- No OWSs installed onboard ship,
- Insufficient capacity of the OWHT to handle immediate flow requirements.
If eductors must be used, every effort shall be made to discharge beyond __ NM from land and while the ship is underway.
50 NM
For in-port operations, the OCM shall always be set at the designated alarm limit for the in-port mode, which is __-ppm.
