Overwing EXITS & A321NEO gull-Wing EXITS Drills

Question 1

A319/A320 Overwing Window Exit Pre-Flight Check:
Scenario: “What is the pre-flight of the OWE?”

Answer 1

Action (verbally state and physically point out):

1. Overall condition of exit and viewing window.
2. All placards & exit opening instructions are present, good condition and readable.
3. Protective cover is fitted (the SLIDE ARMED indicator is not illuminated).

Question 2

A319/A320 Overwing Window Exit Emergency Operation:
Scenario: “You are seated at the OWE, the flight makes an emergency landing, and you need to evacuate out of the OWE. Open the exit in emergency mode.”

Answer 2

Action:
1) Check exit door back of hands
2) Remove protective cover
3) Grasp the lower assist handle
4) Grasp the operating handle
5) Pull downward on the operating handle.
6) Remove OWE using both hands and throwing it outside the aircraft (verbally state FWD of the wing).
7) Pull the manual inflation handle (upper portion of the window frame on the side closest to the white “Slide
Armed” light).

Action (verbally state and physically point out):

A321NEO Gull-Wing Exit Emergency Operation:
Scenario: “You are seated at the Gull-Wing exit, the flight makes an emergency landing, and you need to evacuate out of the Gull-Wing exit. Open the exit in emergency mode.”

Answer 4

Action:

1) Check exit door back of hands
2) Remove protective cover
3) pull the operating handle downward and release.
4) Pull the manual inflation handle (side portion of the window frame on the side closest to the white “Slide Armed” light).
