Main Cabin Door Exit Pre-Flight Check:
Scenario: “ what is the pre-flight check of a main cabin door exit?”
Action( verbally state & physically point out):
- Overall condition of exit and viewing window
- All placards are in good condition and readable.
- The slide arm lever is in the disarmed position
- Safety pin inserted and locked in the pinhole
- The red flag is present and in good condition
- The slide pressure gauge needle is in green
Normal Door Operation: ARM
Scenario: “You are the lead F/A. Please arm the door”
Action:
1. Locked (VERIFY door Locking indicator)
2. Look (viewing window is safe )
3. Pin ( remove )
4. Lever ( push down)
5. Pin ( let it go)
6. Check the door is armed in 3 places (FAP L1 door, door placard letters are aligned, & indicator window shows ARMED)
Normal Door Operation: DISARM
Scenario: “You are the lead F/A. The aircraft has blocked in, & the fasten seatbelt sign has been turned off. Please disarm the door”
- Pin ( hold it )
- Lever (up)
- Pin (insert into pinhole )
- Check the door is disarmed in 3 places (FAP, Letters no longer aligned, the indicator window show’s DISARMED)
Normal Door Operation: Open
Scenario: “There was a diversion to a Non-Spirit City. You are the lead F/A, & you will have to open the door. Please open the door.”
- Obtain permission from Capt.
- Check the door is disarmed in 3 places (FAP, letters placarded, the indicator window)
- Look (viewing window) for obstructions
- Secure self to handle (jack)
- Lift handle (3-4 degrees)
- Slide-armed indicator not illuminated
- Continue lifting handle
- Push the door until clicks with gust lock
Normal Door Operation: Close
Scenario: “Following a diversion to a Non-Spirit City, You are now ready to leave; Please close the door for departure.”
Action:
• Obtain flight crew permission to close the door (verbally state)
• Secure self by holding on with one hand to one of the fuselage assist handles affixed to the aircraft fuselage.
• Press the gust lock release button.
• While remaining secured to a fuselage assist handle, guide the door inward using either the door assist handle or door support arm.
• When the door is almost closed, while remaining secured to a fuselage assist handle with one hand, use the door assist handle with the other hand & pull the door into the door frame (if the door support arm was used to pull the door inward, you must release door support arm & grasp door assist handle.)
When the door is completely pulled into its frame:
• Release the fuselage assist handle
• Continue to hold the door assist handle & hold the door into the frame
• Grasp the door control handle & pull it firmly down to the fully closed position.
Ensure the door is fully locked by checking the door locking indicator displays LOCKED (Must verbally state & physically point out, if necessary, use a flashlight)
