what is the sagittal plane?
splits body in half left and right
what is the parasagittal plane?
splits left and right but off centre - centre split is sagittal plane.
what is the coronal plane?
splits body in half front and back
what is the transverse plane?
splits body top and bottom
what are the axial parts of the body?
head, neck, trunk.
what are the appendicular parts of the body?
arms and legs.
which side of the body is anterior/ ventral?
the front.
which side of your body is posterior/ dorsal?
the back.
where are superior/ cranial structures found?
towards the top of the body
where are inferior/ caudal structures found?
towards bottom of body.
lateral vs medial structures?
- lateral are away from midline of body
- medial are close to midline.
proximal vs distal?
- proximal is closer to midline.
- distal is further away.
what do tissues combine to form?
organs.
what are the 4 types of tissues and what do they do?
- nervous tissues - control and communication.
- muscle tissues - movement.
- epithelial tissues - cover and protect body
- connective tissues - provide support.
what’s histology?
the study of tissues.
