Overhead Engines/EEC Flashcards
What is selected by putting the Electric Engine Control (EEC) switch to NORM or ALTN? GE Engines
What does an ALTN light mean?
NORM: selects normal mode, thrust is set by N1
ALTN: alternate mode is selected, thrust is set by N1
ALTN light means alternate mode is active
What happens when an engine start switch is pulled? GE When does the light in the switch come on? GE
Pull with Autostart ON: engine bleed air valve open start valve armed
Pull with Autostart OFF: engine bleed valve open, start valve open until 50%N2
Light illuminates when the start valve is open.
What do the 1, NORM, and 2 positions of the Ignitor Standby power selector do? GE
NORM: with a loss of AC power, standby power continuously powers both igniters
1 or 2: standby power is continuously provided to respective igniters
What does the ON and OFF position of the Continuous ignition switch do? GE
ON: selected igniters continuously powered and approach idle minimum commanded
OFF: system logic operates igniters for start and inflight situations
What happens when SINGLE or BOTH is selected on the ignition auto selector? GE
Selected igniters fire in accordance to system logic when:
Single: EEC alternates between igniters used on the ground for start, both igniters used inflight
Both: Selects both igniters
Selected igniters fire when:
- below 50% N2 for start
- Trailing Edge flaps are out of UP
- Nacelle anti-ice is on
- Engine Flame Out
What does the autostart switch do in the ON and OFF positions?
ON: Autostart armed
OFF: Autostart disabled, manual start procedures required
Fuel Control Switches
Run (Autostart)
Run (NO Autostart)
Cutoff
Run (Autostart)
opens spar fuel valve
opens engine fuel valve
EEC sequences start valve, fuel metering valve, and igniter operation
Run (NO Autostart)
Opens spare fuel valve
Opens engine fuel valve
Energizes igniter(s)
Cutoff Closes fuel valves Removes igniter power Commands respective hyd demand pump to operate when demand pump selector is in Auto Unlocks Engine Fire Switch
EEC maintenance Power Switches
Norm
TEST
NORM - supplies electrical power for normal EEC operation
TEST - supplies electrical power for EEC maintenance testing when engine not running
