Drugs are available only by prescription

Drugs are restricted-acess drugs available only from a pharmacist and retained in an area behind the counter where there is no opportunity for consumer self-selection
Examples of schedule 2
Insulin and acetaminophen with codein 8 mg
Why we do schedule 2
Ensures that the consumer is not self-medicating inappropriatately and it can be counselling by the pharmacist
Schedule 3
Drugs include pharmacy only non prescription drug
The consumer has open access to schedule III drugs and pharmacist is available to answer the questions

Anthistamines
Ulcer medication
Schedule IV
Drugs are those that may be prescribed by a pharmacist according to specific guidlines
Unscheduled drugs
Nonprescriptiondrugs such as ibuprofen acetaminophen and nicotine gums can be sold in any store by nonpharmacist
