Do you need to know serum bHCG before doing ultrasound?

May not have had access to it, so will still go ahead (not realistic)
think about clinical history
-if concerned - then want to know bHCG
-serum bHCG - can 100% show pregnancy or not

Question 2

Patients last mensutrual period was 3 weeks ago, should we check with ultrasound to see if ectopic pregnancy even though these do not manifest till 5 weeks?

-when have pains that could imply ectopic

• first havent done a pregnacy test - need to do serum bHCG - if have negative - then no ectpic
• making an aumption when said she had a mentrual period 3 weeks ago - may have just been a bleed (could have been ectopic then)

What do we date - LMP or conception?

Always last menstrual period - so is 2 weeks out , say its 6 weeks on scan but is actually only 4 weeks
