He announces that he and Pony are going to turn themselves in. He thinks that he won’t be punished harshly because he never had anything on criminal record, and it was self defense.

Dally tells him that his parents didn’t seem to notice. Johhny seems upset, while Dally wouldn’t be able to care less.

They find out the church is on fire. Johnny and Pony risk their lives by saving the kids stuck in the church. Dally saves Johnny but pulling him out of the window.

They both get burnt. Pony gets bruised and shocked. They both go to the hospital. It might help them get out of trouble.

Soda hugs him. Darry hugs him and cries.

Pony now knows that Darry loves him and he loves him back. He knows that Darry was just scared of losing him.
