Outcome 2 Flashcards
Photosynthesis + Cellular Respiration
what is chemosynthesis?
capturing of energy from the oxidation of inorganic molecules and using it to build organic molecules (complete darkness)
what are carotenoids and phycobilins?
c- orange and yellow pigments found in the grana
p- blue and red pigments found on the stroma
difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration
aer- O2 essential, slow rate of ATP production, 34ATP produced per molecule of glucose, outputs- co2 + h2o
ana- O2 not required, rapid ATP production, 2 ATP produced per molecule of glucose, end products-lactate + h2o (animals), ethanol + co2 (plants)
what does ATP stand for
Adenosine Tri Phosphate
inputs and outputs of glycolisis
inputs- glucose
outputs- 2 pyruvate, 2NADH, 2 ATP
inputs and outputs of krebs cycle
inputs- 2 pyruvate
outputs- 6CO2, 2 ATP, NADH
inputs and outputs of e- transport chain
inputs- 3NADH, 6O2
outputs- 34 ATP, 6H2O
where do each of the stages of cellular respiration occur?
