A
- Pain in ear

Bright red and bulging

May be perforation or discharge

- RSV

- Strep pneumonia

What is the prognosis for most infections?
A
Most otitis media resolve spontaneously

What is the criteria for antibiotics to be prescribed?
A
- Symptoms lasting more than 4 days or not improving
- Systemically unwell but not requiring admission
- Immunocompromise or high risk of complications secondary to significant heart, lung, kidney, liver, or neuromuscular disease
- Younger than 2 years with bilateral otitis media
Otitis media with perforation and/or discharge in the canal

Amoxicillin ( Clarithromycin/Erythromycin) for for 5 days
