Define Domain
Domains are aspects (5) of equal value that together interact to affect the client’s occupational identity, health, well-being, and participation in life. Considering all domains contributes to an OT’s holistic approach.
ADLs
Activities of Daily Living; part of Occupations. • Most basic things person does each day: 1. Bathing, Showering 2. Toileting, Toileting Hygiene 3. Dressing 4. Swallowing, Eating 5. Feeding 6. Functional Mobility 7. Personal Device Care 8. Hygiene & Grooming 9. Sexual Activity
Rest and Sleep
Part of Occupations.
• What people do to relax and sleep (meditation, reading, yoga)
Education
Part of Occupations.
• Activities regarding schooling, learning (attending school, doing homework, studying)
Work
Part of Occupations.
• Activities regarding job, pursuing/building career (working, interning, retirement planning)
Play
Part of Occupations.
• Lighthearted, fun things to entertain and use imagination (games, playground, dolls)
Leisure

• Hobbies, etc., that people do in spare time for pleasure (knitting, fishing, shopping)

• Type of behavior that is expected by surroundings; big reflection of social life (husband, athlete, student)

• Behavior, values set by person’s culture; influences how activities are done (religion, cooking, gender roles, greeting style)
