otitis media and sinusitis Flashcards
chapman point sinusitis
lower clavicle border or 2nd rib (anterior)
upper cervical spine (posterior)
galbreath technique does what and good for what
opens eustachian tube
-good for Otitis media where increased barometric pressure induces ear pain/symptoms
ear pull hold where and pull where
grab ear lobe
pull posterior and lateral along axis of ext auditory canal
submandibular walking start where
angle of jaw, walk them toward chin
ant tracheal/deep cervical technique useful for what
pts with cold symptoms and laryngitis
maxillary sinus tender pionts
inferior to infraorbital notch
contact lateral curve of zygoma, compress and lift for 90 seconds
supraorbital tender points
over supraorbital notch
one hand on forehead pulls superior
other hand pinch nose and pull caudad
CV 4 technique
how occiput moves
follow and resist what
flexion: occiput moves posterior
extension: occiput moves anterior
follow extension, resist flexion until CRI stops
-increase CRI potency
how long is pre and post auricular drainage preformed for
30 seconds to 2 mintues
caution galbreath technique in what pts
pts with active TMJ dysfunction
steps of counterstrain
diagnose SD
find TP
establish pain scale
Wrap around TP while monitoring
Reduce pain 70%
return pt to neutral
reassess SD
anterior chapman pt usually for
posterior?
diagnosis
treatment
treatment of chapman point
firm pressure with gentle rotary motion induced over each pt
15 seconds to 2 min until tension is dissolved and pain at pt is decreased
contraindications sinus draininge
fever over 102
not on abx if bacterial infection
inflamed LNs at site
goal of treatment
releive obstruction and pain
improve venous and lymph flow
affect reflex change
imrprove mucociliary clearance
