Other Types Of Evaluation Flashcards
What do you need to do when assessing analogies?
Using the creation of parallels, reasoning is that what is true for one situation must be true and another that is, supposedly, similar. Evaluating analogy requires you to gauge whether the situation is being compiled really are similar enough for the confusion to be reached.
What do you need to do when evaluating examples?
Require similar skills to evaluating analogies. You have to consider whether example is typical relevant enough to support the reasoning well, unusual one, with the result that readers need further examples before accepting the conclusion or so ill chosen that it acts as a counter example, undermining the reasoning.
How do you assess hypothetical reasoning?
When assessing the extent to which hypothetical reasoning supports an argument, you will need to judge whether it is based on ill informed guesswork or a more logical process of considering the evidence for a series of different possibilities.
How do you assess the relevance of general principles?
As well as asking to identify principles we may have to evaluate the extent to which the principal supports an argument, assess the extent to which principle applies to the situation or explain where a general principle would not be applicable.

What do you need to do when asked to assess the use of evidence?
Explain the weaknesses in the use of evidence in a paragraph.
