How is Mohs micrographic surgery performed?
Cancer (with margin) is removed in thin layers
Each layer is immediately checked under the microscope and further layers taken until all the skin cancer has been fully removed

Uses an instrument called a punch to remove a circular section through all layers of the lesion; the section can then be examined
