What symptoms are associated with measles?
3-4 days after measles appears there are cold symptoms, conjunctivitis, a cough and fever.
White spots on the inner cheeks
Measles rash then occurs
Where does the rubella virus live?
Lives in the mucus of the nose and throat of an infected person
What happens when you have meningitis?
The membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord can become inflammed.
What are some of the symptoms of slapped cheek?
High temperature (above 38 degrees)
Runny nose
Sore throat
Headache
What virus causes slapped cheek?
Parvovirus B19
Found in the droplets of an infected person’s cough and sneezes
What are some of the symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease?
Loss of appetite in children Red rash on the hands, feet and mouth Fever Sore throat Blister like lesions on the tongue Irritability
What virus causes hand, foot and mouth disease?
It is caused by viruses from the Enterovirus genus, most commonly the coxsackievirus.
How easily hand, foot and mouth disease spread?
Incredibly easily as it is spread through contaminated surfaces, and by person to person with unwashed hands.
What are the symptoms of whooping cough?
1-2 weeks after the disease progresses the patient will experience coughing fits (Paroxysms) followed by the whooping sound as they try and breathe in.
Vomitting and exhaustion after coughing fits
What is whooping cough caused by?
The bacteria that causes whooping cough is known as Bordetella pertussis. This is very contagious and can be caused by breathing in droplet in the air of an infected person.
