Describe A Good Law In Your Country
what the law is
• properly designed to withstand the devastating earthquakes
One law that I think is good is the law that says all buildings have to be properly designed to withstand the devastating earthquakes
how you first learned about this law
* protecting society, the natural environment, and the man-made environment * limiting the seismic risk * a seven Richter earthquake hit * resistant to earthquakes
Since I hold a BA in Civil engineering, I learnt about this law in my courses. This law concerned with protecting society, the natural environment, and the man-made environment from earthquakes by limiting the seismic risk. However I deeply interested in this law, when a seven Richter earthquake hit western cities of Iran. I found out that many of the buildings that fell down were not resistant to earthquakes.
who benefits from this law
* urban area * don’t obey the law
Anyone who lives in a building benefits from this law because it makes them safer in an earthquake. In fact, anyone who lives in an urban area also benefits because collapsing buildings aren’t good for anyone. The only problem is that sometimes the companies that build apartments want to save money so they don’t obey the law.
and explain why you think this is a good law
* destroyed * selfish building companies * seismic hazardous map
It‘ s definitely a good law because it makes people safer. It protects towns and cities being destroyed in earthquakes and saves many lives. It also shows that the government wants to make strong buildings and stand up to selfish building companies who only want to make money. If this law was properly implemented in Iran, where is located on seismic hazardous map, the damage would not be anywhere near as bad as it was. Hopefully people will learn from this tragedy and make sure that the law is followed strictly in the future.
