Q
Bioelectrical Impedance Method
A
- Body fat tissue has lower electrical conductivity
- A person’s hydration level and blood circulation can have an effect on the body fat readings.
- If a measurement is made under the following physical conditions, the results may differ significantly from the actual one because the water content in the body:
– After drinking a large amount of water or after a meal (1-2 hrs)
– After drinking alcohol
– Immediately after vigorous exercise
– Immediately after a bath or sauna

- Measure perpendicular to fold (right angles to the pinch)
- Take measurement 2-4 seconds
- Indirectly measures the thickness of subcutaneous adipose tissue
- Estimate total body density
- 3 to 9 different sites
