What is the ABC Balance Scale?
The ABC Scale is a self-report measure of balance confidence in performing various activities without losing balance or experiencing a sense of unsteadiness.
16-item self-report measure in which patients rate their balance confidence for performing activities.
Items are rated on a rating scale that ranges from 0 - 100.
Score of zero represents no confidence, a score of 100 represents complete confidence.
Overall score is calculated by adding item scores and then dividing by the total number of items.
What is the Berg Balance Scale?
The Berg Balance Scale (BBS) is a 14-item objective measure that assesses static balance and fall risk in adults.
Items include static and dynamic activities of varying difficulty
Item-level scores range from 0-4, determined by ability to perform the assessed activity
Item scores are then summed
Maximum score = 56
What is the Tinetti Balance Scale?
To measures an older adult’s gait and balance abilities. Designed to measure balance (including fall risk) and gait function in elderly, but has also been used for patients with various other conditions.
Total POMA consists of 16 items: 9 balance (POMA-B) and 7 gait (POMA-G) items.
3 point ordinal scale, ranging from 0-2, where highest score indicates independence with each test item.

The Role Checklist
The Role Checklist (RC) is a self-report survey used to assess a patient’s roles and satisfaction and is based on principles of the Model of Human Occupation.
The RC presents and defines 10 common roles: student, worker, volunteer, caregiver, home maintainer, friend, family member, religious participant, hobbyist/amateur, and participant in organizations.
The Interest Checklist
The Modified Interest Checklist gathers information on a client’s strength of interest and engagement in 68 activities in the past, currently, and in the future. The main focus is on leisure interests that influence activity choices. The checklist can be used by adolescents or adults.
