Transition years from Saul to David
The transition from Saul to David was very messy due to Saul’s sin and corruption. The commander of Saul’s army, Abner wrongly makes Saul’s son, Ishbosheth king over Israel, while David is king over Judah. The nation then goes through a time of civil war and there are a lot of deaths. Eventually David is made king over Israel because he remained blameless and pure.

A Benjamite who tries to lead Israel in a revolt against David who gets killed by Joab
Sheba

David had great success in battle against the Philistines and the Edomites, and against Amon and Syria and extended the borders of Israel to their Abrahamic covenanted boundaries.
How did David show kindness to Saul’s household?
He found Mephibosheth, a son of Jonathan, who was lame in both feet and gave him all of Saul’s land and had him eat at the king’s table in Jerusalem

David’s relationship with Absalom
David wasn’t a very good father to Absalom. He didn’t discipline or relate to him, though David loved him and longed for him when he was gone.
