CRP, ESR - rule out inflammatory causes
FBC, renal - baseline

Loss of joint space
Osteophytes

What is the conservative management for OA?
Patient education
Weight loss
Exercise/physiotherapy
What is the pharmacological management for OA?
Topical NSAIDs/capaiscin cream

What are some secondary causes of OA?
Wilson’s disease, haemoglobinopathies, joint injury, slipped femoral epiphysis, diabetes, septic arthritis
What is the common distribution of OA in the hands?
PIP, DIP, CMC joints
