Q

What is osmosis

A

The movement of water molecules from where they are in a higher concentration to where they are in a lower concentration
Through a selectively permeable membrane (or semi/partially) this means that it allows some molecules through but not others

Q

Write a brief method for the osmosis required practical

A

Cut up five pieces of potato into similar lengths (2cm??) and weigh them
Place in bottles with different concentrations of sugar solution for 48 hours
Bolt and weigh them calculate the change in mass

Q

What are the independent, dependent and control variables for the osmosis required practical

A

Independent-the concentration of sugar in the solution
Dependent-the mass of the potato
Control- the temperature, length of time, volume of solution

Q

Give examples of where osmosis occurs

A
