What is the clinical presentation of Osgood-Schlatter Disease?
-Occurs mostly in children who are active in sports, running or repetitive jumping
-Complain of knee pain in the tibial tubercle or the patellar tendon region when ascending/descending stairs, kneeling, squatting or kicking a ball
-Edema and occasional bursitis over tibial tubercle
-Chronic presentation may include atrophy of quadriceps and hamstring tightness
(ITB and lateral > medial hamstrings)
What is the PT intervention for Osgood-Schlatter Disease?
-Pain and inflammation management
-Focus on exercises to improve the flexibility and strengthen the surrounding musculature
-Proprioceptive and balance activities
