  • Salivation
  • Lacrimation
  • Urination
  • Defecation/diarrhoea
  • Gastrointestinal upset - diarrhoea
  • Emesis - Vomiting
  • M - Myosis/Muscle spasm

Other features: hypotension, bradycardia, miosis, muscle fasciculations.

What nerve gas is an organophosphate and describe the natural history of someone reacting to it?

A

Sarin Gas

  1. Initial symptoms = runny nose, tightness in the chest and constriction of the pupils.
  2. Then, difficulty breathing and experiences nausea and drooling.
  3. Loss of control of bodily functions, the victim vomits, defecates and urinates.
  4. Twitching and jerking.
  5. Ultimately, the victim becomes comatose and suffocates in a series of convulsive spasms.
