Organisations of an ecosystem Flashcards
What are the 5 levels of a food chain?
The producer that makes its own food (photosynthesise) , e.g grass
The primary predator that eats that grass
The secondary predator that eats the primary predator
The tertiary predator that eats the secondary predator
The apex predator at the top of the food chain
What is the predator prey relationship in a graph?
The number of the prey increases because there are less predators and they can not be hunted. The low number of predators have lots of food, therefore their numbers increase. Because the number of predators increase, the number of prey decrease and when they prey decreases, the amount of predators decrease due to lack of food, and the cycle continues
What are transects?
They are long pieces of tape that’s stretched along an area of interest to assess the effect of a factor when it comes to species distribution.
What are quadrats?
They are square frames that can be used to estimate population sizes.
