Organisational Structures Flashcards
What is a Vertical Organisational Structure?
This is a pyramid top-down organisational structure. They have clearly defined roles with specific responsibilities for each person. This is when you have people reporting to a person above them. E.g. the NHS has this structure. This structure doesn’t work for a digital organisation, this is for traditional organisations like law firms.
What is a Horizontal Organisational Structure?
It is a flat organisational structure with only a few layers of management, in which managers have a wide span of control with more subordinates and it is more dynamic. Less having to run decisions through various managers.
