organelles Flashcards
organelles means?
small organs
creates boundary around cell
regulates traffic between cells and their surroundings
made of primary of phospholipids
they re not made of just lipids because they are hydrophobic
Plasma membrane (cell membrane)
Holds all of the information of the cell, DNA
directs all actvities in the cell
nucleus
where are ribosomes made?
Nucleolus
Power house of the cell (uses proteins and carbohydrates)
breaks down glucose for energy
supplies that energy for the cell
where cellular respiration occurs
the more active the cell the more they have
is only inherited form the mother
Mitochondria
Produces th protein for the cell
uses the DNA as instructions
those that are free roam and travel around the cell while bpund ones are attached to the ER
Ribosomes
Canals attached to the nucleus
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
has ribosomes attached to it, protein
manufractors and then packages protein to be shipped through out the cell
a type of ER
rough ER
no ribosomes
makes carbohydrates and lipids
helps with hormones that are released to the brain
type of ER
Sooth ER
acts like a ‘receiving dock’ for proteins from the ER
modities storages, and routes protein through out the cell
shipping center
Golgi bodies
full of enzymes takes what is not needed and cops it up
houses chemicals that are used to digest and decomposed
also breaks don proteins, Lipids and DNA
Lysosomes
plant ones are big and animal ones are smaller
the storage acts of the cell
vacuoles
hollow tubes that promise shape, rigidity and organization in the cell trades
Microtubules
thinner tubes that allow cells to move or change shape
Microfillaments
Fluid of the cell
all organelles are suspended in here
Cytoplasm
