organelles Flashcards
cytoplasm
structure inside the cell that holds everything (the rest of the structures) in place
semi permeable
allows some thing to pass through the cell, not everything
cell membrane
controls what enters/leaves the cell (made of lipids)
nucleus
the control center of a cell (the cells brain) controls allowing activity (CHROMOSOMES R FOUND HERE)
mitochondria
breaks down food into energy for the cells (powerhouse of the cell where energy is created)
cellular respiration
breaks down sugars to produce energy ATP
endoplasmic reticulum (er)
chemical activity and used to transport materials, produce proteins inside the cell
ribosomes
protein synthesis in a cell (looks like little dots)
golgi body
the process where packaging, transferring, and modifying proteins to be exported from the cell
vacuole
the storage of nutrients and wastes
lysosomes
the digestive system that contains digestive boosters for breaking things down
centriole
structure that helps organize the cell when divided ONLY IN ANIMAL CELLS
cell wall
protects plant cells and gives it a rectangular shape
chloroplasts
produces energy through photosynthesis (oxygen and relief processes)
nuclear pore
a minute passing way in the nuclear membrane
