Q

What is good about the GMOs?

A
  • has been done naturally by farmers crossing plant varieties to improve the quality of the plants (choosing seeds from best plants)
  • to improve pest resistance or have bigger yields (produce more)
  • increase vitamin content

Q

What is bad about the GMOs?

A
  • moving genes from one species to another we still don’t know the full impact on human health
  • should be regulated and tested and labelled
  • maybe limits genetic variety
  • control over food supply with a few companies such as monstanto
  • herbicide resistant crops (round-up) - glyphosate left on the plants because more sprayed on the plants. Does that affect human health? We don’t know.
  • ecological effects on other insect species e.g. bees
