Organ Systems and the Function Flashcards
Integumentary
body temperature regulation, cell fluid maintenance, synthesis of Vitamin D, and detection of stimuli.
Skeletal
works as a support structure for your body. It gives the body its shape, allows movement, makes blood cells, provides protection for organs and stores minerals.
Muscular
main function is contractibility
Nervous
major controlling, regulatory, and communicating system in the body.
Endocrine
regulates all biological processes in the body from conception through adulthood and into old age, including the development of the brain and nervous system, the growth and function of the reproductive system, as well as the metabolism and blood sugar
Digestive
turning your food into the nutrients and energy you need to survive
Circulatory
delivers oxygen and nutrients to cells and takes away wastes.
Lymphatic
protecting your body from illness-causing invaders, maintaining body fluid levels, absorbing digestive tract fats and removing cellular waste.
Urinary/Excretory
filter blood and create urine as a waste by-product.
Reproductive
produce egg and sperm cells. To transport and sustain these cells. To nurture the developing offspring.
Respiratory
help you breathe. This system helps your body absorb oxygen from the air so your organs can work. It also cleans waste gases, such as carbon dioxide, from your blood.
