Dacryocystitis TX
Topical augmentin
I+D if abscess forms
What is dacryocystitis?
Infection of lacrimal sac due to lacrimal duct obstruction
Red, tender swelling of eyelids, fever, proptosis, elevated WBCs
Orbital Cellulitis
Orbital Cellulitis DX tests
CBC
Culture if open wound present
Serum blood culture if systemic source suspected
CT of orbits
Orbital Cellulitis TX

Clindamycin - PCN allergies
Surgical/sinus drainage
Lid lag, lid/conjunctival edema, telangiectasia, proptosis/exophthalmos
Thyroid Eye Disease
Thyroid Eye Disease DX tests

Elevate HOB at night
Radiation/sugery
Thyroid eye disease follow up
Eye exam q3-6 mos
VF testing as needed
Most common orbital blowout fracture type
Orbital zygomatic
Enophthalamus, decreased sensation, extrusion of extraocular muscles, HX of trauma
Orbital blowout fracture
Orbital blowout fracture complications
Loss of vision
Retinal detachment
Vascular compromise
Injury to globe
Orbital blowout fracture TX
Augmentin/azithromycin PO
(prophylaxis)
Corticosteroids PO
Refer to eye surgeon (3-5 days)
