Oral & Systems Flashcards
While flying in cruise level, the fan has not come on. What will you do next?
Reference the QRH and then put the switch to FLIGHT ALT mode.
What’s DC battery time limit with no AC power?
Five minutes.
The reason is that ED 1 and ED2 will be overheating. You need to get the fan going. (CPT) the fan that runs it, runs on AC power.
If the system above is still not working, what is the next that?
Put it in STANDBY MODE.
Also make sure you check the QRH.
Main battery and APU battery limits are:
24 V 17 amp hour main battery (FWD of the aircraft)
24 V 43 amp hour APU battery (AFT of the aircraft)
In STANDBY MODE, what happens with the fan?
It de-energizes both fans and pulls air from the cockpit. By this time you should be looking for a place to land soon.
On the electrical panel AVIAL/IN USE, what does AVIAL mean?
GPU has been connected and power is available.
How many outflow valves does the CRJ 900 have?
One
How is the outflow valve controlled?
The electrical system
The CRJ 900 has TIE BUSES. How are the controlled?
They are automatic by the DC TC (DC power control)
Name one place on the aircraft that requires fire detection and extinguishers.
To detection system. Engine core section as both protection and extinguisher capabilities.
Low-pressure turbine section as detection only.
Two FIREX bottles for extinguisher and engine fire.
The APU compartment has a dual loop detection.
What will happen if the APU catches fire on the ground?
Auto shutdown and the bottle will deploy automatically (5 seconds)
What will happen if the APU catches on fire in flight?
Auto shutdown, but the bottle will not deploy. Crew will have to deploy the bottle.
Discuss the operation of the slats and flaps system on CRJ 900.
2 slat positions: 20° and 25°
When slat/flat lever is set to 1° or 8° slats will be 20°.
When slat/flap lever is set to 20°, 30°, or 45° position, the slats will be at 25°.
Remember that the slats extended down first before flaps.
On the retraction, the flaps come up before the slats.
VFE limitation at 8°?
230 KTS
If flaps are 8°, what will the slats be?
Slats 20°
