Fuel Flashcards
The NACA scoops are what?
The tanks are vented into atmosphere on the ground by two NACA scoop vents. In flight, the NACA scoops provide ram air pressure to the tanks.
Where is the A/C fuel?
In the two main wing tanks and one center tank
How are fuel system faults annunciated it?
Switch lights on overhead fuel panel
EICAS in form of messages
What is used to provide the fuel system computer with fuel quantity information?
Six fuel quantity probes with compensator units in each of the main tanks and three probes in center tank AND one per collector tank. Total 17
How may the fuel level be manually checked on the ground?
By means of magnetic level indicators (MLI)
What type of ejector pumps are used to move fuel from the main tanks to the collector tanks?
Scavenge ejectors
What maintains fuel symmetry between the main tanks?
Automatically controlled by the Bi-directional X flow pump
How are the collector tanks filled?
Gravity fed lines and scavenger ejectors
What is used to back up the main ejectors and how many?
Two electric boost pumps
The electric boost pumps do what ?…(3)
- Are energized during engine starting
- Can feed fuel to either engine from one collector tank
- Back up the main ejector pumps
From what sources is APU fuel feed supplied?
From the left collector tank via APU Fuel Pump.
Where is the bulk fuel temperature taken?
Right main tank
How is pressure refueling and suction defueling accomplished and how is it controlled?
Accomplished through the single point refuel/defuel adapter. Controlled from the refuel/defuel control panel.
If a fuel asymmetry condition exists between main tanks, what visual caution message is presented on EICAS?
FUEL IMBALANCE
What fuel system information is displayed on the EICAS primary page?
Individual tank quantities, total fuel quantity, fuel flow per engine
