13
Q

how to do a simple extraction

A

use a number 15 blade to cut around the tooth in the sulcus - this breaks down the attachments, use a combination of luxators and elevators to break down the PDL, keep working until the tooth is able to be removed

16
Q

how can you design your surgical flap

A

2 or 3 sided flap, avoid suture lines on bone edges (put your vertical releasing incisions inbetween teeth roots)

17
Q

how do we do a surgical extraction

A

cut the tooth
design a flap
slide your scalpal blade around the tooth in the sulcus
place your vertical releasing incisions
elevate the periosteum
burr away the bone to create a bone window and gutters
use a combination of luxators and elevators to remove the tooth
smooth over any bone, suture closed the flap

18
Q

how deep do gutters around the root need to be during surgical extractions

A

around 2/3rd the depth of the tooth

19
Q

After removing a tooth what should we always do

A

examine the tooth to make sure nothing was left
