Q

Fire Detection systems and bottles?

A
  • 1 Fire loop for each engine, 1 APU. (Core wire surrounded by helium gas in a tube. Loss
    of helium pressure triggers system.)
  • Baggage compartment, 2 smoke and 2 heat detectors. 1 high-rate discharge and 1
metered discharge over 50 minutes. (Stay high if possible, descent causes outflow valves to open increasing seep rate of the agent.)
  • LAV Smoke detectors located in the ceiling, automatically discharge at 77*C
  • 2 Engine bottles, 1 APU bottle, 2 Bag bottles, 1 bottle above each LAV Waste Bin.

Q

What does the GASPER FAN do?

A

-Gasper air is used to distribute air to the passenger outlets, the cabin oxygen compartment and relay box, and the rear electronics compartment. (Rear electronics compartment houses important stuff like the FADECS.)
-You can’t disable the GASPER system on the ground. Rear electronics department is very important.

Q

Electrical: DC System

A

-2 isolated networks Left and Right during normal flight operations.
-Only occurs when we have all 4 generators online.
-L ENG: GEN 1 & 3 and power DC Bus 1
-R ENG: GEN 2 & 4 and power DC Bus 2

16
Q

Electrical: Electrical Distribution Logic (EDL)

A

-Automatically Sheds the shed buses and closes/opens tie contactors in the event of a generator failure.
-Bus ties. Auto- EDL controls system logic

17
Q

Electrical: GPU

A

-If GPU is plugged in it must be selected to power the electrical system. GPU Available illuminated does not necessarily mean the power being supplied is good. You must check the electrical page to confirm the voltage is sufficient.
-Must deselect the GPU button before GPU is removed.
-Ground service bus is always powered when a GPU is connected.

18
Q

Electrical: During APU Start

A

-Battery 2 powers the APU start and must be 24V or greater.
-If less than 24V use GPU to start the APU. Then deselect the APU to recharge batteries minimum 30 min.
-Battery 1 is isolated from the load buses and provides stable power to equipment that can be damaged by voltage transients.
-Back up battery is there to provide stable power to the EDL and GCU’s during high loads on the electrical system (APU start).
-APU generator will come online after 95% RPM +7 seconds.

19
Q

Electrical: Electrical System (Rule of 3)

A

-3 Generators must be online to power the shed buses.
-Moving shed buses to OVRD will power shed buses on the ground only with only 1 generator
-Switch does nothing in the air.
-With less than 3 generators in the air shed buses will auto shed and not be powered.

20
Q

Electrical: Loss of all Generators

A

-Essential buses are powered for 40 minutes.
-3 APU start attempts are included in that 40 minutes.
-45 minutes if you de-select pitot heat #3.

21
Q

Electrical: Hot Battery Bus

A

-Courtesy lights (FA Galley)
-Main Door
-Fueling Panel
-ENG Fire Bottles
