Oral Review Questions Flashcards
Engine Fire memory items?
-Associated thrust lever = Idle
-Associated start/stop selector = Stop
-Associated Fire Ext. Handle = Pull (No Rotate)
Engine cooling between start attempts?
1st to 4th cycles, 1 minute on, 1 minute off. 5th cycle is 1 minute on, 5 minutes off.
What are your Engine warm up times and when is an engine considered cold?
4 minute run time for cold engine and 2 minutes for warm engine. An engine is considered cold if it is shut down for more than 90 minutes.
APU cooling between start attempts?
-3 Start attempts = 1 minute off
-30 minutes off between 2 series of 3 start attempts
Max demonstrated crosswind?
30 knots
Max take-off and landing tailwind component?
10 knots
Fire Detection systems and bottles?
- 1 Fire loop for each engine, 1 APU. (Core wire surrounded by helium gas in a tube. Loss
of helium pressure triggers system.) - Baggage compartment, 2 smoke and 2 heat detectors. 1 high-rate discharge and 1
metered discharge over 50 minutes. (Stay high if possible, descent causes outflow valves to open increasing seep rate of the agent.) - LAV Smoke detectors located in the ceiling, automatically discharge at 77*C
- 2 Engine bottles, 1 APU bottle, 2 Bag bottles, 1 bottle above each LAV Waste Bin.
What happens when you pull the Fire Handle?
HALFF
–Hydraulics
–Air-Bleeds
–Lip Anti-Ice
–Fuel shut off (Wing)
–Fire Bottle Armed (Must rotate to fire)
What is on the Accessory Gear-Box? (Connect with the tower shaft)
HEAPOF
—Hydraulics
—Electrical Generators (2)
—Air-Turbine Starter. (Should shut off by 53% N2 or caution message will display)
—PMA (permanent magnet alternator)
—Oil Pump
—Fuel Pump (Fuel pump and metering unit. FPMU)
Max single PACK or BLEED Altitude?
-FL250 (If in icing conditions it’s 15,000 ft)
What does the GASPER FAN do?
-Gasper air is used to distribute air to the passenger outlets, the cabin oxygen compartment and relay box, and the rear electronics compartment. (Rear electronics compartment houses important stuff like the FADECS.)
-You can’t disable the GASPER system on the ground. Rear electronics department is very important.
What are your minimum speeds in different configurations?
-Minimum maneuvering speed in icing conditions = 200 KNOTS
-Minimum maneuvering speed in clean configuration = 180 KNOTS
-Minimum speed flaps 9 = 160 KNOTS
-Minimum speed flaps 22 = 140 KNOTS
