Navigation Flashcards
The airplane is equipped with two identical, independent AHRSs. What information do they supply?
Attitude (pitch, roll) and heading to PFD, and heading to MFD, via IC-600s
What is the purpose of the AHRU, which forms a part of the AH-900 AHRS version?
It contains three laser gyros and three accelerometers mounted on the three axes to measure the airplane inertial motion
Which system supplies the initialization data for the AHRS?
FMS
With the radar REACT function active, what does the cyan field indicate?
The target cannot be calibrated and should be considered very dangerous
How can the radar automatic standby function be overridden when the aircraft is on the ground?
Press the STAB button four times within 3 sec
What does an amber ATT indication on the PFD indicate?
Simultaneous activation on both pitch and roll comparison monitors (roll info on PFD 1 and PFD 2 differ by more than 6°, and pitch info differs by more than 5°
What indication will appear on the PFD and MFD compass cards if heading information is not available?
The digital heading bug symbol is removed and a red HDG FAIL annunciation is shown
What amber captain is shown on the PFD when one AHRS is supplying both sides, or both AHRSs are supplying cross-side?
ATT 1 or ATT 2
What is the purpose of the TGT setting on the radar
The radar monitors beyond the selected range and 7.5° on each side of the aircraft heading. If a return with certain characteristics is detected in the monitored area, the target alert TGT label shown on the PFDs and MFDs changes from the green armed condition to the yellow TGT warning condition
What does an amber H on the PFD next to the DME distance indicate?
That the DME is in hold mode and that the active DME channel is selected separately from the active VOR/ILS frequency
The FMS position information uses the most accurate sensors available. What is the sensor order of priority?
GPS, DME/DME, VOR/DME, IRS
To select FMS as navigation source on the PFD and MFD, which button should be pressed?
FMS button on the display control panel
If position information is lost from all sensors, or inhibited, how will the FMS system react?
The FMS will first go into “Degrad” mode for 2 min, then into DR mode, using the last available AHRS/IRS heading, airspeed, and wind data
How often is the navigation database updated?
Every 28 days
When is an active flight plan considered closed?
When the last waypoint is the destination
