Oral P.O.H Sect. 1 Flashcards
What kind of Engine do we have?
Textron Lycoming (manufacture)
IO-360-L2A
Fuel Injection
Horizontally Opposed
360 cubic inch of displacement
Accessory Package
What is our Maximum RPM and Horsepower?
180 BHP @2700 RPM
What is the diameter of our propeller?
76 in
What are the three Axis’ that we fly?
Vertical: Pitch
Longitudinal: Roll
Lateral: Yaw
What Flight Controls Affect the Axis’s?
Vertical: Pitch (Elevator)
Longitudinal: Roll (Aileron)
Lateral: Yaw (Rudder)
What is the diameter of the propeller?
76in, minimum 75in
Propeller Type?
Fixed Pitch, the propeller cannot be rotated around their axis
Approved Fuel Grades?
100 LL Grade Aviation Fuel (Low Lead) (Blue)
100 Grade Aviation Fuel (Green)
Fuel Capacity?
Total Capacity: 56
Total Useable: 53
Why can we not use all of the fuel?
There is a lip inside of the fuel tank that sits above the bottom of the tank.
This is so contaminants sink to the bottom and do not get into the fuel system.
What is our Oil Capacity?
Sump: 8 U.S. Quarts
Total: 9 U.S. Quarts
What is our maximum ramp weight?
Why?
Normal: 2558
Utility: 2208
We burn 8lbs of gas while we taxi.
What is the maximum take off and landing weight?
Takeoff and Landing:
Normal: 2550 lbs
Utility: 2200 lbs
Where is Baggage A and Baggage B located?
In the tail storage, A is the main area, B is located behind it and is much smaller.
How much weight can baggage A and Baggage B hold in Normal Category?
Area A: 120lbs
Area B: 50lbs
What is the maximum weight that the baggage area can be? (Both A and B)
120lbs
For Utility Category how much weight can be in the baggage compartments?
The back seat must be unoccupied and the baggage compartment must be empty
What is calibrated airspeed?
How is it expressed?
It is indicated airspeed corrected for position and instrument error.
It is expressed in Knots Calibrated Airspeed is equal to Knots True Airspeed in standard atmosphere at sea level.
What is indicated airspeed?
How is it expressed?
It is airspeed that is shown on the airspeed indicator.
It is expressed in knots.
What is true airspeed?
How is it expressed?
The airspeed expressed in knots relative to undisturbed air.
This means it is Calibrated Air Speed corrected for altitude and temperature.
It is expressed in knots
What is standard temperature?
15C or (55 F)
What is Pressure Altitude?
What is standard Pressure Altitude?
The altitude read from the altimeter when the barometric scale has been set to 29.92 or (1013 mb)
What is BHP?
Break Horse Power (the power developed by the engine)
When you enrichen the mixture you are adding what?
(Descending) You are adding more fuel in the fuel air ratio
When you are leaning the mixture you are adding what?
(Climbing) Adding more air to the fuel/air ratio.
What is the Reference Datum?
Where is it in our plane?
A set point from which all other distances are measured for balance purposes.
It is the firewall in our plane.
What are the engine’s characteristics?
Lycoming, Horizontally Opposed, Aircooled, Naturally Aspirated, Direct Drive
What does direct drive mean?
It only has one gear
What does horizontally opposed mean?
A flat or horizontal engine
What does naturally aspirated means?
These engines intake air under normal means and do not have superchargers or turbo chargers
What is the propeller made of?
Aluminum Alloy
