Palatal petechiae
Tender anterior cervical adenopathy
High grade fever
absence of post-nasal drip

Tx of choice for GABHS

A

Oral PCN TID for 10 days
or
Azithromycin

Tonsillitis

A
Inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsils
Rare in kids < 2 yo
Generally bacterial
usually viral in young kids
Same tx as pharyngitis

Peritonsillar abscess

A
Complication of tonsillitis
Unilateral bulging tonsil resulting in displaced uvula
Tender cervical adenopathy
Tx with I&D, IV Abx
Some need emergent tonsillectomy

A

> 6 episodes of GABHS pharyngitis in 1 yr
3 or more tonsil infections in 1 yr
