Oral Bank - LANDING GEAR Flashcards
Describe the OFF position of the landing gear?
Landing gear hydraulic system is depressurised
How many degrees can the nose-wheel steering system turn the nose gear with the tiler, and how many degrees with the rudder pedals?
70 with tiller, 7 with rudder
What does the BRAKE SOURCE amber light indicate when illuminated
Active brake sources (hydraulic systems 4,1 and 2) have low pressure
How are the landing gear held in position after retraction?
- Main gear by uplocks
- Nose gear mechanically locked in up position
When does the RTO apply max braking? (3)
- A/C on ground
- Wheel speed above 85kts
- Thrust levers closed
What is the purpose of the brake accumulator?
Parking brake application
What does a white, crosshatched, expanded gear position indication mean?
Landing gear in transit
What conditions must be satisfied in order for the landing gear lever lock to release? (2)
- Main gear are tilted
- Body gear centred
What hydraulic system pressurises the brake accumulator?
4
What value on the brake temp monitoring system causes the BRAKE TEMP Advisory EICAS message to appear?
5
How does the landing gear extend with the alternate gear extension system?
Gear unlocks and door latches are electrically released and gear free-falls
Why is it necessary to pressurise hydraulic system 4 before pressuring the other systems?
Precludes the transfer of fluid from system 1 or 2 into system 4. (when parking brake is set, and then released, brake hydraulic return lines dump into system 4)
What does the EICAS message LIMITER indicate? (3)
- Brake torque limiter failure on more than one wheel per truck
- The parking brake lever is released and the parking brake valve is not fully open
- Brake system control unit power loss occurs
