Oral Bank - FLIGHT CONTROLS Flashcards
How many groups of leading edge flaps are provided? How are they normally powered?
- 3 groups (outboard, midspan and inboard)
- Pneumatically powered from the bleed air duct
What are the 2 groups of trailing edge flaps, and how are they powered?
- Inboard by hydraulic system 1
- Outboard by hydraulic system 2
Is there any asymmetry protection in alternate flap mode?
How are the trailing edge flaps driven in primary mode?
Hydraulically
How long does the flap indication on primary EICAS remain displayed after all flaps are up?
10 seconds
What protection features do FCU’s provide for tailing edge flaps in primary mode? (3)
- Asymmetry
- Flap load relief
- Flap position info to EICAS
How many Flap Control Units (FCU’s) are provided?
3
What is the maximum extension of the trailing edge flaps in alternate mode?
25
What EICAS Advisory message displays if all 3 FCU’s fail in their control?
FLAPS CONTROL
How does the Flap Alternate Control mode work? (3)
- Bypasses the FCU’s
- Can be manually selected
- All flaps extended or retracted by electric motors
Is there any asymmetry protection in alternate flap mode?
No
What happens if a primary control failure occurs in either the inboard or midspan leading edge flap group
Both groups switch to secondary mode
When do the spoiler panels extend to the up position during landing if the speedbrake level is NOT armed? (3)
- Thrust levers 1 & 3 idle
- Main gear on ground
- Reverse thrust levers 2 & 4 in idle detent
747-8, to improve T/O performance and reduce noise, outboard ailerons deflect down at which flap settings? They return to the neutral position at which flap settings? Inboard ailerons droop in which flap setting?
- 10 or 20
- 25 or 30
- 10 or greater
Describe the function of the STAB Trim Cutout Switches AUTO position? (2)
- Supplies hydraulic power for STAB trim
- Shuts of related system hydraulic power if unscheduled trim detected
