Into the nose using an atomizer device, eliminates risk of needle-stick injuries

At the scene, now do you identify whether or not opioid use may be involved in life-threatening emergency?

- Confirm safety first,then ask folks “Does anyone have any information about what happened?”
- Directly observe pt for signs of infection or other signs of use
- ## Observe the surroundings, bottles, etc

If pt unresponsive, suspect opioid use if:

- Pt has pulse, give naloxone
- If use is suspected with cardiac arrest, consider giving naloxone per local protocol after starting CPR. Effect of the naloxone administration is unknown in cardiac arrest.

A
After the first 2 breaths

If pt not breathing normally and no pulse present, do what?
A
Do CPR, utilize AED when available. If suspect opioid overdose,give naloxone per local protocols and monitor for response, continue until EMS arrives.
