Operational Policies Flashcards
Low time FO landing limits
Cant land unless CA is check airmen:
- Special qualification airports
- Vis at or below 3/4SM or 4000RVR
- 15 KT crosswind
- Contaminates on runway that effect performance
- Braking action less than good
- Windshear reported in the vicinity of the airport
- Captain deems it prudent
Special qualification airports
The crew may not operate into the airport unless within 12 months the captain had made a takeoff and landing at that airport.
OR
CA has reviewed the Jepp qualification pages on the EFB
Restrictions do not apply if vis is at least 3SM and ceiling 1,000ft above lowest MEA MOCA or IAF alt
Minimum experience levels
CA or FO with less than 100hrs in the aircraft type cannot fly with another crew member with less than 100hrs.
Time not seated at the controls, ie crew rest times, do not count towards 100hrs
RVSM preflight
Check MX logbook. ICON RVSM in item and description column, ensure no RVSM deferrals
RVSM required equipment
1 autopilot warning/disconnect light
1 autopilot with a disconnect switch
1 automatic altitude control device
2 Primary altimeters
1 altitude alerting device
1 altitude reporting transponder
- must notify ATC if any of these fail.
RVSM type mandatory ATC reports
Must notify ATC if:
1. turbulence affects the ability to maintain assigned flight level
2. loss of redundancy of altimetry systems
3. no longer compliant due to equipment failure
RVSM level off requirement
- Must not overshoot or undershoot altitudes by more than 150ft.
- Must report level off when not in ADS (automatic dependant survailance) or radar environment.
RVSM automation requirement?
Automatic altitude control system must be engaged during level cruise.
Strategic lateral offset procedures (SLOP) give you the option to fly in which 3 positions?
Centerline, 1 mile right, 2 miles right.
Never left or more than 2 miles right.
This may only be done in oceanic airspace. Ie FIRS
There is no ATC clearance for this and it is not necessary that ATC be notified.
Can offsets be applied at oceanic entry and exit points?
They may be applied at the entry points but must re join centerline at the exit point.
