When should you consider Ice shedding? and how?

A

When temp is less than 1 degrees C and in icing conditions.
With no freezing fog, bring engines up to 50% N1 for 10 seconds at least once per hour. Also apply prior to takeoff.

When do icing conditions exist?

A

When temp is less than 10 C (OAT on ground) (TAT in flight)
And visible moisture exists (ie clouds fog precip or vis less than 1 mile.) - Or any moisture on the surface that may effect engines.

When does Engine A/I need to be on?

A

Any time Icing conditions exist.
Does not need to be on during climb or cruise when SAT is below -40.
Must be turned on before and during descent even if temp is below -40.

When should you turn on the Wing A/I?

A

Turn on whenever there is an indication that the airframe is icing up. May build op on visual ice detector between cockpit windshields or on windshield wipers.
