Operant conditioning Flashcards
overviewof operant conditioning
S->R->O(reinforcer)
in the presence of a certian stim if a behaviour is performed an outcome will happen
Positive reinforcement
press level (operant) to get food(reinforcer) Increases response rate
Punishment
press lever to get shock
Decreases response rate
Negative reinforcement
Press lever to prevent shock
Increases response rate
Omission training
press lever to prevent food
decreases response rate
Premack principle
animals will work for a opportunity to engage in certain activities
depriving animals some behaviour will increase their drive to perform it
Bliss point theory
Animals have some distribution of behaviour the prefer
if they are prevented they will find nearest possible equalibrium
If a operant is not recieving a reinforcer anymore the animal will display these 3 responses
display frusteration
increase variablity of responses
try a little harder (extinction burst)
