Q

Is subjectivity a problem for a Bayesian approach to scientific hypotheses? Explain why or why
not. Begin your answer with a yes or no. Explain what the Bayesian approach to scientific
hypotheses is (3 points). Then offer a developed argument defending your answer (3 points). Your
argument should make use of other concepts we covered in the course and should explicitly
formulate and explain them (3 points). Your answer should be between 100-150 words.

A

Yes: subjectivity through the lens of underdetermination, introduces biases in initial beliefs (prior probabilities) -> E.g. treatment A & B both have shown same effectiveness, therefore underdetermination leads to subjectivity.

No: Despite initial subjective assumptions, falsifiability allows to adapt hypotheses.
