NOTIFICATION MADE TO THE FDNY ANYTIME STANDPIPE SYSTEM IS OR WILL BE OOS
ANYTIME NO EXCEPTIONS

NOTIFICATION OF SPRINKLER OOS:

• more than one floor
• more than 8 hours
• other fire protection system OOS (aside from sprinkler–meaning fire alarm/standpipe ) in the same area

FIRE ALARM:

• more than one floor
• more than 8 hours in 24 hour period
• one or more in same area (same as sprinkler )

Standpipe system at CONSTRUCTION SITE

• immediately notify FDNY of any UNPLANNED OOS
• NOTIFY AT LEAST 24 HOURS planned to removal of standpipe system from service

if standpipe is OOS —-NO TORCH WORK

EXCEPTION: a shut down for SCHEDULED, TESTING, MAINTENANCE AND THE SYSTEM WILL BE PLACED BACK IN SERVICE PRIOR TO END OF BUSINESS DAY , investigation is NOT NECESSARY, unless OFFICER feels its required

• Place proper disk (white OOS / BLUE-Partial , if supplied)
• issue VO forthwith for RESTORATION OF SYSTEM
• CONSIDER VO FOR FIRE WATCH BY FIRE GUARD (4 hours/ 50,000 sq feet)…building shall be evacuated if fire watch cannot be maintained
• *impairment coordinator or other building staff TRAINED may conduct fire watch during initial 4 hours provided the floor area IN WHICH FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM IS OOS DOES NOT EXCEED 50,000 SQUARE FEET
• SUMMONS FOR FAILURE TO NOTIFY
• A-8 TO FIRE PREVENTION (so thEY CAN SCHEDULE TEST OF SYSTEM)

Fire alarm activates, do exterior inspection ….no indications of fire, etc…direct DISPATCHER to notify alarm company
