During growth/mature of follicle primary oocyte finishes the first meiotic division producing secondary oocyte and polar body

undergoes meiosis 2 stopping at metaphase 2 starting ovulation

Follicle ruptures releasing secondary OOcyte and polar body
If penetration occurs meiosis II continues producing a OOtid
f no penetration occurs secondary oocyte is released during menstruation
