Category 2 approach?
DH 200-100, RVR not less than 300m
Standard alternate minima Cat 1
600-2000
Basic 1 Minima- Takeoff, PA, NPA.
Takeoff: 0-800
PA: 300-1600
NPA: Cat 1 Capt + 100-800
When can’t you continue past the Approach Ban point?
1) CLG/VIS less than company minima
2) Any RVR less than 200m
When can you continue below DA/MDA
1) Airplane is continuously in a position where a safe landing can be made
2) Appropriate visual references
What do you need to continue below 100ft?
If using ALS or RAI as a visual reference, you cannot continue below 100ft unless you also have the red terminating or side row barrettes, or other visual reference.
What is needed to continue below DA Cat2?
1) Continuously in a position where a safe landing can be made
2) A) A segment of at least 3 continuous lights of ALS (a set of barrettes also visible)
B) RL or CL or;
C) TDZ
Minimum ground facilities for Cat 1 Approach?
LOC and GS
OM (or equivalent point on approach)
Approach ban point? Japan and overseas
Japan (in the following priority):
1) FAF
2) OM
3) 1,000ft AFE
Outside Japan:
1) Specific point if published
2) 1,000ft AFE
What is CMV?
A substitute for RVR used only for straight in approach when RVR is not available
