Q

Cabin Altitude or Rapid Depressurisation

A

Don Oxygen Masks
Establish crew communications

(FREIGHTER: If occupants in main cargo compartment or lavatory- Main Cargo Horn/Alert switch PUSH
Ensure all occupants return to flight deck)

Check Cabin Alt and rate

(PAX: If cabin altitude is uncontrollable:
PASS OXY switch- Push and hold for 1 second)

Emergency Descent- Initiate
Thrust Levers- Idle
Speedbrake- up

If structural damage IS NOT suspected:
Target speed- VMO/MMO

If structural damage IS suspected:
Target speed- current IAS or less
Limit airspeed and avoid high maneuvering loads

(JA605F: Speedbrakes may autostow to 50% if airspeed exceeds 320kts. Do not override autostow unless airspeed is less than 315kts)

Transponder- 7700
Descent to the lowest safe alt or 10,000ft, whichever is higher.

Q

Dual Engine Failure

A

Engine start selectors (both)- FLT
Thrust levers- IDLE
Fuel control switches (both)- CUTOFF then RUN

If engine appears stalled or EGT approaches the maximum EGT limit (960deg) of the standby engine indicator:
Repeat above step as needed

Q

GPWS PULL UP warning

A

Disengage Autopilot

Disconnect Autothrottle

Aggressively apply maximum thrust

Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 20deg

Speedbrake DOWN

If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation to PLI, stick shaker, or initial buffett.

Do not change configuration until terrain separation is assured.
Monitor radio altimeter for sustained or increasing terrain separation.
When clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate.

Q

Nose High Recovery

A

Recognise and confirm

Disengage autopilot and disconnect autothrottle

Apply as much full nose down elevator (trim if necessary)

Reduce thrust

Roll to obtain a nose down pitch rate

Complete the recovery:

  • when approaching the horizon, roll wings level
  • check airspeed and adjust thrust
  • establish pitch attitude

Q

Nose Low Recovery

A

Recognise and confirm

Disengage autopilot, disconnect autothrottle

Recover from stall if required

Roll in the shortest direction to wings level (unload and roll if bank is more than 90deg)

Recover to level flight

  • apply nose up elevator (trim if required)
  • adjust thrust and drag as required

Disconnect autothrottle
Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 15deg
Speedbrake DOWN
Follow flight director GA guidance (if available)
AUTOMATIC FLIGHT
Press either GA switch
Verify GA mode annunciation
Verify thrust advances to GA power
Speedbrake DOWN
Monitor system performance

MANUAL or AUTOMATIC FLIGHT
